The Move

Wow! It has been a while since I've touched this blog. As of August 2009, I have relocated to Tampa, Florida for the MPH (Masters of Public Health) program at the University of South Florida. My sisterlocks are doing great. People tell me they are growing, but I can't tell a significant difference. For a few months now, I've been working at a natural hair care salon doing sisterlocks and other natural styles.

I heart Carol's Daughter!!

ME AND LISA PRICE, CEO OF CAROL'S DAUGHTER

I confess....I am absolutley obsessed with
Carol's Daughter products. I find myself strolling through Macy's, on the web, etc during my free time. I really don't use any of her products on my hair because it hasn't settled in yet. However, I have tried the tui leave in conditioner and it works really well. I have the khoret amen also, but it doesn't smell as good as tui products. I can't wait for my hair to settle in so I can experiment with some of her other products (Marguerite's Magic is on my list)

Despite how much of a product junkie I am... I am faithful to supporting and following the sisterlocks methods implemented my Dr. Cornwell
I love using the sisterlocks products and I was so happy when I found out they came out with a essential oil mist. This mist is light weight and gives your hair a nice scent and sheen.

I can party w/o sweating out my hair...life is great!!

Never before, unless my hair was natural, could I go to the club and party like a rock star without having a fuzzy fro. I went to the club a month after instillation, here are some photos of how great my hair looked

For the first few month and even now a little, I only wore my hair with a head band. My hair was so broken off from pressing it that my slx on the edges are very short.

Kee's Sisterlocks Instillation

My instillation was a 3 day process that took over 24 hours...625 locks later I was all done. It was well worth the aching booty..lol! I B&B and washed my hair the night I got home. In the beginning I liked to use the little barrettes when I washed my hair because I had A LOT of little babies. Now that my locks are 7 months old, I put them in about 8 big braids with rubber-bands and wash.

I wash my hair weekly religiously...my hair has always drived me crazy after a week (itching, natural oil, etc).

Below is a slide show of my instillation and hair the day after

Pre- Sisterlocks Photos

Ok here goes..let the blogging begin!!

I've been sisterlock stalking so many people's blogs, so I decided to create my own little journey. I have been locked since 8-18-08 (how cool is that??lol). It actually took 3 days to complete my instillation 8-17, 8-18, and 8-19 so I just decided to pick the middle date to celebrate my anniversaries!
Sadly, this is not my first set of sisterlocks. I had a bad experience in June 2
008, my locks were improperly installed. I am super meticulous about my hair so because I was so unhappy with the size, parting, tension etc so I took them out that month. For these reasons and more, I pride myself in strictly following the sisterlocks methods on my clients.

Why sisterlocks? I never had issues with my hair. I have always had a thick head of hair, I was just tired of revolving my life around my hair. It had been over
10 yrs since I had a perm in my hair. If my hair wasn't natural, I would be in the beauty shop every week getting my hair pressed and curled. I was slx trained in august 07, but was not ready then to get slx. I always told myself "when I'm 30 or when I have kids" I'd lock my hair, but one day I had to ask myself what was really stopping me from doing it?? MEE!!
